Today’s #FiveInspiredBloggingChallenge prompt is ‘Health & Fitness’.
Some of us love hitting the gym. Some folks prefer to stay out of the gym. I get it. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Doesn’t mean you have to struggle to get fit!
5 Ways to Get Fit Outside of the Gym
Go for a walk (or a jog).
Make it a routine to get out for a long walk every week. Even better a few times a week. Walking is a fantastic way to get your heart rate up, burn some calories and release some stress.
Get your yoga on with an online class.
Yoga is such a great therapy. While strengthening and stretching it helps you clear your mind and relax. There are so many options out there too for online classes. You can sign up for a membership or grab a video from YouTube and with the access we have with SmartTVs nowadays you can even access most of them right on your big screen! Two of my favorite places for online classes are MyYogaWorks and YogaInternational. No matter what kind of mood I’m in, I can find just the right practice.
Get fit with short, fun circuit workouts.
BodyBoss is a fantastic program to try out. It’s fun, easy to follow and motivating. The program includes online instructions, a physical book (if you choose) and online videos to follow along with. The instructors are upbeat too so it gets you in the groove! If BodyBoss doesn’t appeal to you, you can also find some fun videos on YouTube.
Create a mini-gym in your own home.
I’m a big fan of being able to work out at the most convenient times. Unfortunately that doesn’t allow for too much wiggle room for drive time to the gym with my busy schedule. So I keep my “gym” on hand at home. Weights, resistance bands, even a medicine ball helps me keep on plan even when I’m tight on time. Check out this post for a great, quick resistance band workout.
Hire a trainer to come to you.
I’ve worked with a trainer and I absolutely loved it. Took the guesswork out of figuring out what I needed to do to meet my goals and honestly it helped me stay accountable also. You don’t even have to go to a gym to work with a trainer. You can find one that will come to you! Recently I discovered Find Your Trainer. They’ll match you up with some trainers in your area that fit just what you’re looking for.
Alright so now that I’ve shaken the excuses…set those goals and get on your journey!
